Case
Study 5 - Logistics
Analysis
of production plans and scheduling requirements for an existing
recombinant protein purification line. The project objectives
were to determine capacity and scheduling constraints, and develop
a
feasible production plan based on personnel and equipment availability.
Comparison of the model predictions and actual process activities
indicated a discrepancy, with predicted WFI usage lower than
recorded rates. The difference was determined to be due to incorrect
operational
procedures controlling the use of WFI for CIP that resulted in
the diversion of WFI direct to waste.
